The Paris Olympics is cause for concern for insurance partners like Allianz and Lloyd’s of London. Coverage of the 2020 Games in Tokyo led to massive losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This time around, fears are being raised over faked GenAI images, cyberattacks, elections, militant attacks, and conflict in Ukraine and Gaza.

The games typically buy around $800 million of coverage, but that might not be enough for 2024. The major new threat? AI, of course. These AI-based attacks could include fraud, ticketing, and manipulating live broadcast feeds.

At the time of the hack, OpenAI chose not to disclose the attack to the public, as no user data was affected.

This continues the scrutiny of the industry by safety experts. The Biden administration has been working with companies, including OpenAI, to protect these models from China and Russia. Hacks like this continue to raise concerns about how well these models can be protected.

Hotel management services company Quoality leaked the credit card details and personal data of over a million guests. The India-based company runs the popular platform Guest Experience, which helps hotels with various services, like contactless check-ins and checkouts.

A human error led to an Elastic cluster having virtually no access controls. This left sensitive data wide open. A Cybernews team discovered the issue and notified the company. The data is no longer exposed.
